These terms show up on almost every Korean payslip and job offer. Each calculator on this site shows the Korean term next to its English translation.

| National Pension | 국민연금 | A mandatory pension contribution, split between employee and employer. |
| Health Insurance | 건강보험 | Mandatory national health insurance premium. |
| Long-Term Care Insurance | 장기요양보험 | A surcharge on the Health Insurance premium that funds elder-care services. |
| Employment Insurance | 고용보험 | Funds unemployment benefits and job-training programs. |
| Wage income tax | 근로소득세 | National income tax withheld from wages. |
| Local income tax | 지방소득세 | A local surtax, normally 10% of the wage income tax amount. |
| Take-home pay | 실수령액 | Net pay after all deductions. |
| Severance pay | 퇴직금 | A statutory lump-sum payment for employees with one year or more of continuous service. |
| Payslip / pay statement | 급여명세서 | The itemized statement an employer provides with each pay period. |
